Mission and Vision
WHO ARE WE?
We are the Queen’s Solar Design Team. Since 1988, our solar vehicles have brought Queen’s to the forefront of innovation. Now we have a new mission: we are building a home. This net zero, solar home will be showcased in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C. as we compete on the world stage for building the most efficient and affordable home. Understanding the consumer trends towards green building, our team is determined to make net zero homes a scalable reality.
MISSION
To design and construct an affordable net positive energy home, while building the leaders of tomorrow and educating the public to demand more from the next generation of homes.
VISION
We envision a future where net zero homes are a scalable reality throughout Canada.
MANDATE
To supply the world with the green leaders of tomorrow.
To redesign the unsustainable technologies of yesterday.
To educate the public on how we can change our way of living today.
PARTNERSHIP
We are excited to be partnered with a team of architectural, engineering and business students at Carleton University for our Solar Decathlon 2013 proposal. As both Queen’s and Carleton have strong knowledge in sustainable design, we are confident that this partnership will allow us to collectively integrate even more technological advancements in our state-of-the-art home.
